We are delighted to announce the launch of our latest falls prevention platform, in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cheshire East Council and NHS Cheshire and Merseyside.
Coinciding with this year’s Falls Awareness Week, the regional initiative has enjoyed a milestone first week with over 3000 visits and more than 200 people starting their self-assessment journey. Of those, in excess of 140 residents now have their own personal falls action plan, enhancing individual safety and supporting the NHS to manage healthcare resources more effectively.
The new website provides a bespoke, localised hub for falls prevention, integrating seamlessly with existing pathways and allowing further collaboration between stakeholders. Loaded with a wealth of resources including an interactive self-assessment tool, and detailed guides on home safety and staying active, the site aims to empower older residents throughout Cheshire. This is backed by comprehensive dashboards offering insight and analytics for healthcare teams to monitor data and assessment progress.
Cllr Lisa Denson, Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Cabinet Member for A Fairer Future (Poverty, Public Health and Mental Health), said:
“People aged over 65 have a higher risk of falling. A fall is nothing when you’re little but can be much more serious when you’re over 65. This is because it can lead to you losing your confidence and not being as active. Your health could deteriorate, and this can lead to a loss of independence and socialising with friends and family.
“The good news is that you can do plenty of things to help you maintain your strength and balance to avoid falling, and it’s never too late to start. We want residents of Cheshire West and Chester to be resilient people, living their best lives. Launching this website is one of the ways we can help people to be healthy, happy and independent for longer.”
As care organisations face an increasing challenge to manage the immediate consequences of falls, Steady On Your Feet is delivering a proactive, coordinated, and preventive approach. By identifying individuals at risk earlier and providing targeted interventions, our tool can greatly reduce the number of falls and improve the quality of life for ageing adults.
Cheshire marks our seventh regional launch, and adds to a groundbreaking 12 months which includes new sites for the likes of Hambleton & Richmondshire, and Swindon.
It also caps off a landmark Falls Awareness Week, which saw record numbers across our platforms nationwide. This reinforces our ongoing, collective commitment to enhance community health services and reduce the impact of falls on the wider system. Through centralised resources and guidance, Steady On Your Feet is ensuring that those at risk receive consistent, effective support to remain active, healthy and independent as they age.
