Steady On Your Feet champions falls prevention at National Conference
< Back to News

This September, we are excited to participate in the Falls Prevention & Management in Older People conference. As exhibitors, we are keen to contribute to the national conversation and learn about developments in enhancing care and prevention strategies for older adults.

Falls are a leading cause of emergency admissions for older adults and significantly impact independence and health, making effective prevention and management strategies crucial. Attending this conference ensures we stay updated with the latest guidelines and provides an important opportunity for the Steady On Your Feet team to stay aligned with the latest practices and to influence national strategies focused on complex falls prevention.

The conference, organised by Healthcare Conferences UK, presents a unique opportunity to network with peers who are working to improve falls prevention and management in older people. It's a chance to share insights, learn from others' experiences, and collaborate on innovative approaches that could shape future practices.

We are looking forward to exploring a wide range of topics, including the application of the 2022 World Guidelines for Falls Prevention, the importance of multidisciplinary assessments, strategies to improve independence, and the role of education in falls prevention.

The conference is also an opportunity to understand how a human factors approach could support falls prevention, examining how behavioural and ergonomic adjustments can prevent falls. The agenda also includes sessions designed to further deepen our knowledge of developing comprehensive healthy ageing programmes and effectively integrating strength and balance training.

Speaking at the event is Prof. Cameron Swift from Kings College London NHS Trust who is a key member of the NICE Falls Clinical Guideline Development Group (GDG) and Quality Standards Advisory Committee. Also speaking is Dr. Julie Whitney, Clinical Lead at King's Healthcare NHS Trust and a NIHR Clinical Lecturer. Both will be sharing their expertise, which will influence and inform our approach to enhancing the effectiveness of fall prevention platforms.

Our support and attendance at this conference underline our commitment to staying at the forefront of falls prevention. It provides an exciting opportunity to share our insights and experience, stay at the forefront of research and practices, and strengthen our partnerships with clinical teams across the UK.

The conference will be held on Friday, September 20th, at 15 Hatfields, London. You can follow the conference on X using #NHSFalls. If you are interested in finding out more about the conference, please visit the Healthcare Conference UK website or contact us at info@steadyonyourfeet.org
