Steady On Your Feet, in collaboration with First Community Health and Care, is excited to announce the launch of a new Steady On Your Feet platform dedicated to falls prevention in East Surrey. This innovative platform is designed to transform how falls prevention services are delivered in the community, providing essential support to the elderly and those at risk of falls.
First Community Health and Care, an employee-owned social enterprise, is committed to delivering the highest quality of NHS community healthcare services in East Surrey and parts of West Sussex.
"Our mission to continually improve community healthcare services aligns perfectly with the introduction of this state-of-the-art falls prevention platform" said Allison Kandiah, Clinical Lead for Long Term Conditions Support Services at First Community Health and Care.
The Steady On Your Feet platform offers an extensive library of falls prevention and healthy ageing content, support tools and self-care resources that empower individuals to take proactive steps to manage their fall risks.
A key feature of the platform is its interactive self-assessment tool, which helps users identify personal risks and create a customised falls prevention action plan. This user-friendly tool is part of our mission to integrate digital technology with falls pathways and public health campaigns, making preventative care more accessible and effective.
Working with its partners, including local Alliance for Better Care, Surrey Fire Service, Surrey Police, Active Surrey and Surrey County Council amongst others, the platform aims to achieve several key objectives locally:
"By introducing Steady On Your Feet to East Surrey, we are supporting First Community and their partners to take a significant step towards reducing the strain on specialist services and developing a region-wide, integrated approach to falls prevention" added Mark Easby, Managing Director at Steady On Your Feet.
This platform is not just a tool but a part of a broader public health campaign aimed at empowering friends, relatives, and caregivers with the knowledge and resources to support their loved ones effectively.
With over 65,000 users nationwide and facilitating over 6,000 online self-assessments, the platform demonstrates significant potential in reducing falls and the associated healthcare costs.
